"One Belichick family source told me, ‘There is deep worry for how detrimental Jordon can be for not just North Carolina but Bill’s legacy, reputation."

Bill Belichick has yet to officially coach his first game at the University of North Carolina.
But could the former Patriots head coach and future Hall-of-Famer end up getting canned by the Tar Heels before the 2025 season even begins in early September?
Meadowlark Media sportswriter and podcaster Pablo Torre — who delved into the ongoing discourse regarding Belichick and his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, as part of his “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast — believes that it could be a tangible scenario.
Torre — who reported on his podcast that Hudson had been banned from the North Carolina football facility (which UNC denied in an official release) — noted on the “The Dominique Foxworth Show” that UNC might be having second thoughts about Belichick, especially amid all of the ongoing narratives between Belichick and his relationship with Hudson.
— The Domonique Foxworth Show (@FoxworthShow) May 12, 2025Do you think Bill Belichick makes it to Week 1 with UNC after the recent reporting about his relationship with Jordon Hudson?
"I think there's an absolutely real chance that he doesn't." – @PabloTorre 👀👀 pic.twitter.com/tzRhlklOeS
“I think there’s a chance — an absolutely real chance — that he doesn’t,” Torre said of Belichick not coaching the Tar Heels in the fall. “And the reason I say that is because even before the Jordon Hudson thing became as public, even before it went from messy backstage to now obviously messy everywhere —the date that matters the most is June 1st.

“So when this contract was reported, Dominique, when the terms of Belichick’s Carolina contract that made him the highest paid public employee in the state were announced, everybody who follows contractual language pointed out that on June 1st, the buyout of Bill Belichick goes from $10 million to $1 million if Bill wanted the escape hatch. So if he wanted out — suddenly, it was very interesting that the amount got 10 times less after June 1st.”
Beyond the fiscal implications of that buyout dropping in price, Torre noted that the ongoing drama regarding Belichick could eventually make North Carolina unwilling to put up with those distractions moving forward.

“So the question everybody is asking is, are things so dysfunctional behind the scene when it comes to the power struggle, when it comes to what they are telling Bill to do, ‘don’t have Jordan around anymore, stop behaving in the way that you have,’ basically telling him for the first time, really, that you’re an employee and not the boss of this building in the way that he may have been assuming he would be,” Torre said. “Then there is the ability for him to get out of it, and that’s before you even consider the fact that stuff is so crazy when it comes to how his family feels.”
Torre reported on his podcast diving into the Belichick-Hudson relationship that Hudson’s perceived influence over the former New England head coach has some of his family members concerned.
“Bill Belichick’s family is extraordinarily concerned about what has transpired,” Torre said on his podcast. “One Belichick family source told me, ‘There is deep worry for how detrimental Jordon can be for not just North Carolina but Bill’s legacy, reputation — everything he has built and worked for over decades. In fact, the family has been digging into Jordon Hudson, as well.”
